Emily Watts

Founder and Owner of Paws in Motion
Bsc (Hons) Veterinary Physiotherapy, Cert. Small Animal Hydrotherapy and Advanced Treadmill Techniques
NAVP, NARCH, RCH

Upon completing A levels and earning a qualification in Animal Management, Emily discovered a keen interest in Canine Rehabilitation. With her fascination with the intricacies of the body and clear passion for animals, combining the two felt like the perfect union. The turning point occured when beloved family dog, Teddy, underwent surgery at the age of 2 due to a spinal injury. Witnessing the remarkable transformation that physiotherapy brought about in him opened her eyes to the vital significance of canine rehabilitation and ignited her desire to be part of all of your journeys with your pets.

In 2017, Emily successfully obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy and further enhanced her expertise with qualifications in Small Animal Hydrotherapy. This included mastering Advanced Treadmill Techniques, which enabled her to become a proud member of both the National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP) and the National Association of Registered Canine Hydrotherapists (NARCH).

Emily considers herself incredibly fortunate to have discovered her dream career at such a young age, and will continue to gain joy from assisting you on your unique journeys.

Sky has always had a strong desire to work with all types of animals; from horses to cats and dogs. Alongside studying Animal Welfare, she started to volunteer at a local cattery for rescued cats where she honed her understanding for feline behaviour and well-being, and gave them the love and care they deserved whilst waiting for their new perfect homes.

However, it was a personal experience that led to her passion for hydrotherapy. Sadly, her own dog Dante, who was only 1 years old at the time, was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. Dante began hydrotherapy treatment here at Paws in Motion and became progressively stronger which improved his quality of life immensely. After seeing the impact that hydrotherapy had had on Dante, Sky jumped at the opportunity to begin her journey on becoming a fully qualified hydrotherapist so that she could help your beloved pet too.

She is now a fully qualified hydrotherapist registered with the Institute of Registered Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists (IRVAP) and has recently completed the Level 4 Massage for Canine Hydrotherapy so that she can continue to make a difference in both the lives of Dante and countless others. Sky is now also undertaking her 4 year Masters course in Veterinary Chiropractic.

Jay Mackay

Level 7 PGDip Canine Osteopathy,
Canine Mobility Therapist,
IAAT

As a child, Jay was always rescuing some distressed animal, forever taking birds and mice, rabbits and hedgehogs up to her local vet’s. She even set up a Snail Recovery Farm where she would try and patch up damaged snail shells with sellotape before releasing them back out into her garden, and even though she found herself getting an MA in Applied Linguistics and teaching in the UK and Poland, her love for animals was as strong as ever, going on to rescue several dogs, horses, and many guinea pigs over the ensuing years.

After 25 years of teaching, Jay decided one can never be too old to change career and became manager of a track livery yard as well as setting up a dog walking business, which she loved. Being around dogs and horses all day made Jay realise she wanted to offer the animals in her care a more holistic, proactive approach to their wellbeing so, in 2019, she worked towards her Equine Sports Massage Certificate. Feeling she had only just dipped her toe in the anatomical and therapeutic waters, she then went on to study a PG Dip in Equine Osteopathy with Animal Osteopathy International before realising that dogs were indeed her passion so swapped onto the Canine Osteopathy course. She finally qualified in 2024 (registered with IAAT), and is now currently studying for her Advanced Diploma in Canine Exercise Rehabilitation.

Jay’s two heart-dogs, Nina and Pippa  passed away not so long ago, but she still has Mishka, her feisty Pomeranian, and Reggie, the most handsome of chocolate Labradors. She also has 5 rescue guinea pigs and two rescue rabbits, each with their own little personality and each adored! Her aim is to give back to the animal community as much love and care as all the animals have given her over the years.

As members of NAVP, NARCH and IRVAP, you can be assured that your therapists have undergone rigorous training and continue to develop their skills; staying up to date with new techniques and research. We provide the highest standards of care, follow a strict code of conduct and use scientific principles to clinically reason our choice of treatments.

Dante is Sky's lovely boy who was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when he was 1. He's a little crazy during his hydrotherapy but is still very cute!
